Native and Foreign
In the 1920's most of the United States citizens were not in favor of the Foreign people coming into the U.S. The ones who were here before the 1920's with British ancestry as well as citizens of the U.S. were considered, what they called themselves, natives. The foreigners disagreed and said that the real natives were the Indians (Native Americans). They also disagreed in one more thing, employment. The "natives"said that the immigrants "foreigners "were here to take over the jobs and end the republic that the United States held. yet the immigrants "foreigners" said that it was not true that they did not come here to steel employment, they came here to work because America was the land of opportunity. This caused a lot of racism that the new comers had to face against the so called natives. The "natives"also argued that thanks to the "foreigners"there was less money for the "natives". By the 1920's there were more than 25 million foreigners arrived. They mainly stayed in the cities, most popularly New York.
